Finding a multivitamin without iodine can be a challenge.
Image Credit: Paul Tearle/Stockbyte/Getty Images For those who have Grave’s disease, an autoimmune condition that leads to hyperthyroidism, finding a multivitamin without iodine can be a challenge. The disease can cause anxiety, irritability, difficult sleeping, rapid heartbeat, sensitivity to heat, weight loss, frequent bowel movements and an enlarged thyroid (goiter). Treatment for this disease exposes patients to radioactive iodine to stop the overproduction of thyroid hormones. During this time, it is important to limit the amount of iodine consumed.
