According to KidsHealth.org, blisters, corns or calluses can form on the feet or ankle bone from friction. This can especially happen when breaking in a new pair of shoes or if the same area keeps being rubbed on your foot every day. Commonly, this occurs just around or below the ankle bone. You can prevent this from happening by trying out certain tips or suggestions.

Step 1
Wash you feet every day to ensure your feet stay free from bacteria. Dry your feet with talcum powder to keep them soft and fresh.

Soak your feet in hot water and rub tough areas with a pumice stone. Do this with care so as not to damage your skin. This helps keep your feet soft so harder areas in your skin will not rub up against shoes so easily.
Step 3
Moisturize your ankle area along with the rest of your feet to keep them soft. This helps avoid feet from drying out and cracking, which causes friction.

Step 4
Clip your toenails regularly so they do not grow too long and cause friction in your shoe. This can affect the rest of your feet, including your ankle bone.

Keep feet warm and dry. Change socks every day to make sure moisture does not get caught and cause irritation where your ankles meet your shoes.
Step 6
Check to make sure that your shoes are not ill fitting and that your toes have room to move. A tight-fitting shoe can cause friction in the ankle bone area. Shoes should allow the feet to have enough room without slipping off. Your shoes should feel comfortable. You do not need to “break in” in a new pair of shoes.
